Helen Smith has been practising immigration law since 2005 and has developed a highly pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to immigration. Having lived in five countries outside the UK, Helen knows that visa considerations should not be stressful and prioritises the enabling of your plans through immigration.
Helen qualified as a solicitor at City of London firm, Berwin Leighton Paisner in 2003. She then worked for legal publisher, PLC researching, writing and editing legal know-how and legal market reviews. She brings her editing and writing experience to her immigration practice for the benefit of her clients. After volunteering with Amnesty International in Sydney, Australia, Helen worked in some of London’s leading immigration law firms: Wesley Gryk Solicitors, Kingsley Napley and Fragomen, assisting clients ranging from refugees to global corporates.
Helen set up the immigration department at North Star Law in London in 2015 and built the team there, before launching her own firm in 2020, focused solely on UK immigration.
Helen has written and presented on immigration topics for many years, including with LexisPSL, the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) and the Institute of Directors (IoD).

Vishal assists with business and personal immigration applications, aiding with applications in the Global Talent (Tech Nation), Skilled Worker, Appendix FM and nationality categories.
Vishal has worked in Immigration since 2018, firstly assisting with the appointment side of the immigration process. He received his Bachelor of Laws in 2015 from the University of London, his LPC with commendation in 2017 and was called to the bar in his native Trinidad and Tobago in 2018.
Vishal has a breadth of experience with appointments at the Home Office, Sopra Steria UKVCAS centre and the OVRO; making sure clients’ appointments run smoothly and are stress-free.
Ana has a wealth of immigration experience, consisting of over 8 years as an Immigration Consultant at various leading firms in London, including two of the Big 4. She specialises in UK immigration, and also has experience in Global Mobility and coordination.
Ana supports companies by assisting their current and future employees through each step of their UK immigration application to ensure a smooth and effortless immigration journey. She advises on various applications including Skilled Worker and Intra-Company transfer visas, Global Talent visas in the digital technology sector, spousal visas and settlement applications, as well as ensuring companies remain updated on their compliance duties.
Ana has a passion for delivering an excellent and personalised service by working closely with clients to manage their expectations, thoroughly supporting and updating them through their application process. Ana is known for providing professional advice in a friendly and clear manner.
Mahin received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Exeter in 2021. Alongside his work he volunteers for AMERA International and is a contributing writer at Human Rights Pulse. He has gained a variety of experience through volunteering for the Law In 60 Seconds, the Open Rights Group and mentoring at university. Additionally, Mahin has his own blog where he discusses human rights issues.
